若者の約半数は、テレビがなくても困らない――。こんな調査結果が、2009年10月9日、放送倫理･番組向上機構（BPO）の青少年委員会から発表された。

調査によると、テレビについて、「なくても困らない」「ないほうがいい」「全くいらない」と答えた人が合計で50.5％に上るなど、なくてもよいとの回答が半数を超えている。また、テレビ、ゲーム機、携帯電話、パソコンの中で最も重要なものを尋ねたところ、「テレビ」との回答は11.6%にとどまり、携帯電話の69.5%を大きく下回った。

調査は、若者のテレビ視聴実態の把握などを目的に、東京都内に住む16～24歳の男女311人を無作為に選んでアンケートを実施した。
